I imagine GINA's skin would shatter when the door is opened at even -20C, let alone -40C. How would I scrape the ice off of it? Flexability is not something I would like to see in my car. BMW is not in the business of inspiring. Saying GINA was created to 'inspire' translates to 'we have to justify the expense of this project because we clearly can't market the product.'

This thing is going to scream. BM pinched a dozen engineers from the F1 team to build the engine in this thing. The same as what Ducati did using Ferrari engineers. Except that ducati already make a V4 but they refuse to race it in sbk because they know they'll get embarrassed in a level playing field because they are cheaters. And my cousin is a rider in the Qatar Superbike series. Our riders come within 2 seconds of the sbk laptimes at losail. Id love to see you take him on.

ok if the 200cc's is unfair advantage then the fact that the inline 4 revs 4k higher is unfair too...they make up for each other. right...and ur cousin would die if he tried to take it on a road course...which is y he prbably drag races it. tit for tat...hp isnt every thing...specially in super sport bikes. i lap 1000cc bike all the time at the track on my 600...cause i ride better :P

with an unfair 200cc advantage, id expect they would win even more in sbk. On a related note, My cousin had his k6 done up by KWS motorsports in the states for around 8k dollars and its bored out 1143cc motor makes 225whp on race gas, 25 more than the desmodici CLAIMS to make at the motor. thats what Japanese bikes can do with more displacement :) Oh btw, he raced a Hennessey GT1000 and beat it to 350kph.

Well Ive rode one as well as raced numerous as recent as yesterday and yes they do seem to be underpowered. Handling is good and all but cmon seriously, does it have to feel gutless after 150? My k6 shits on them left and right. They have absolutely no power after 150 while my k6 just pulls and pulls untill it bangs into the limiter.

I'm a true BMW nut, and i love the vertical grill. The wheel arches look off though. This seems like it would make a nice rally car with the twin turbo N54.

It's all very nice and stuff, but come on - now I can't go to the theatre and next day to the mountains in my 3 series? LOL This whole justification thing in marketing is for morons. X3 - pointless. X5 - nice (big). X1 - why not, just a bit higher 1 series. Its a matter of looks and nothing else. I really like the new 3 series after the latest facelift - before the facelift it was kinda not good enough. Cannot wait for the 5 series overhaul.

yeah i looks good but i think the hood is too long too. im also not a big fan of those square wheel arches. the grill should be angled, i dont care much for the vertical grill. overall though, this looks much better then the x3

I think it looks ok but looks like the same size as the X3. The X3 is smaller than the X5 so I was thinking this would be smaller than the X3. Maybe the roof line is smaller? Also, from the side view, it looks like the bonnet is a bit long. Or is that just my point of view?

BMW can say what they want, it's just not a true ///M car to us enthusiasts. The whole point of the M cars was you got racing bred power, but with the practicality of an ordinary BMW. Giving a big SUV that special badge just sorta spoils it. The E53 X5, the ones before Chris Bangle, had no M version. They had a really fast 4.8is version that was very quick, but they never gave it an M badge. Because back then it used to mean something special, now.. not so.

It doesn't stack up to its competitors. All BMW's are expensive. Of all the ones you've stated, the only good one has to be the M5. It's a beast of a car and it's practical. The new M3 is pretty good, but it just doesn't have the raw vicious power I was looking forward to. It became a heavy car, that's very forgiving on the bends. My 2004 M3 is light on its feet, and looks simply stunning. Something you can't say about the new generation of BMW's. Thank Chris Bangle for that.

Well,I HAVE tried an X6,and I can sign those papers ANYDAY!I want one one day,that's for sure.If they give that thing M-components,it will make it a KILLER!Trust me.But I agree,if you want a true roadkiller,and the total feel of sport and speed,don't go for SAV/SUV.Get a M3,M5,M6.Or go ALL the way and blow away every penny on a Alpina850 or something.Whatever, I like the idea that they are giving the X-models M-lifts as well.Fun fun!It's the ultimate driving machine,no matter what BMW you have.

The thing about M cars is the fact that they've always kept up with the bigger sized engines, turbo charged cars despite the fact that they were naturally aspirated. That's what made them special, the fact that they were engineering brilliance. But now? Ugly 4x4 cars with turbo engines that put shame to what M cars are all about. Or at least used to be.

Good point, but I just doesn't matter in M cars. There is not so many M cars that it would make any difference. It just another stupid EU-law... why don't those countries that have problem with air pollution caused by road traffic(?) just set restrictions to car using? or set up taxes like Finland still has just for keeping up illusion of cold war era(don't buy big cars from west, be comrad and buy crappy lada from east!)
