OK guys, I checked. The accident happenend on January 28, 2002, in a Algeria-Mali game. It was at the very end of the first half. The player is Abdelhafid Tasfaout, and NO, HE DID NOT DIE. Because of the bad fall, he bleeded a lot from mouth and nose, and the doctors came very rapidly and avoided him to swallow his tongue, and then he was taken to the hospital. Information taken from "Radio France International - Sports". It was quite easy to find the info.
