Do you want to know what I find really funny? How Johnny Thunders, Richard Hell, and Tom Verlaine have a similar singing style. Higher pitched, less emphasis on holding out notes, but more melodic than say Joey Ramone. Anyways, great song, Lloyd and Verlaine were visionaries of punk rock, and no other song better shows that than this.

this is prob my fav line in the whole song. By far, the best Springsteen song ever and one of the best songs ever. There are a couple of songs that can actually make me cry, and this is one of them. I always thought he was overrated, bear in mind I'm a teenager so I wasn't around back then but I just found this song yesterday and it suddenly all clicked for me with Bruce and I can't stop listening to this. This song can only have been this perfect with David Sancious, especially the way he glided seemlessly between classical and jazz style at the beginning. Roy Bittan was the perfect pianist for later Springsteen tracks, but he could not have played on this one. I do agree that he was most brilliant between 73 and 82. BUT I don't think Bruce "sold out" with B-USA. He might have, but at the time, people didn't realize it with many other popular performers. I hope you get what i'm trying to say. But anyway, everyone has their opinions. I just don't believe bruce sold out. I think he was trying to "save" his career. And if you think about it, he did. However, this is a pretty good argument.

Actually I don't watch TV cuz RAP is everywhere my friend. Also I do think for myself and I'm old enough to remember CBGB's back in the mid-80's. All I'm saying is that most of today's kids are growing up listening to RAP and NOT this kind of rock or any kind come to think of it.
