He has the bet left hand in jazz piano precisely because he uses it so little but so effectively :) Not to mention his absolutely awsome thing where he plays chords in 3 on 4 time.. Unlikely as it seems but the original of 'Way Back Home' was written by Wilton Felder, Gladys Knight and Johnny Bristol and recorded as a Motown 45 by Junior Walker. Stalliec, in my opinion you, and no one of us can tell us how to play the drums. Besides that, music is art. Gadd has such a great level technically and artistically. If you can reach Gadd, then go and tell him, what is "right or wrong" (in your language, obviously).

I thought Berg did a great job on this tune. Brecker did the studio recording of this tune which was part of a whole suite of quartets. If you have never heard the "Three Quartets" album it is a must have for any Chick or Brecker fan. It is sad that both Brecker and Berg are gone. I have tried to find this DVD but can't. Any help?

1983. this is steve gadd in his prime. when I look back at up close. I think wow gadd man was probably taking a few drugs around then. which I think really showed gadd pushing the barriers. he absolutley beats those drums to the limit on Zildjian day what can you say the 80's is gadd.

Stuff had it happening, no egos or surprises in the music. Lots of easy listening with unbelievable grooves. Gadd can make the simplest patterns groove like crazy, and the hardest ones sound smooth and effortless. When Gadd first came on the scene; a drummer who plays solos in terms of phrases and considers the music first, what a concept. Gadd has commented about "grooving so hard" during the Stuff days, thanks to recorded media, but what it must have been like to hear this in person!

Very well played contemporary jazz-fluff fusion. The concert must have been a very special occasion, as Richard Simmons left his hot pants at home and donned a pair of slacks. I can hardly wait for his latest DVD, "Shredding To The Oldies". Seriously, though, these guys are all great players, but the song does nothing for me.
