Gahndi and King were the exceptions, not the rule. You really think if our government goes bad we can just use peaceful methods to get it back? Think good and hard about the people in our government. Why didn't they just try it in every other dictaroship like Nazi Germany, fascist Italy, and communist Russia and Cuba? Probably because they would have been rounded up and massacred.
By: teepsterr. on 07 Jan 09, 19:36:22
I'm not talking about gun rights, I'm talking about peaceful demonstrations

GL2330, you have to REMEMBER, you are talking to LIBERALS. Be tolerant and don't use the "S" word (sense). Comeo on now.

Brady background checks for 2006 - 8,209,900 Total number of convictions from felons trying to buy guns - 73 Thats a whopping 0.00009% I wonder if maybe, just maybe felons dont normally buy their guns from a retail store?

guns are used 2.5 million times in self defense each year. There 30,000 gun deaths each year, more than half of which are criminal on criminal. So stop trying to pass your OPINIONS off as facts you gun grabbing commies.

There are 4 boxes used in the defense of Liberty - Soap, Jury, Ballot, Ammo. Use in that order. Repeat as Necessary.
By: cscian. on 06 Jan 09, 10:54:24
you make the guy with the gun sound like james bond.and i genuinely doubt twenty guys pumped up with adrenaline and armed to the teeth are hardly going to walk away it usally just ends in some kind of a standoff
By: ZSwordsMan. on 06 Jan 09, 03:46:10
I agree with you, I never said I didn't. In my comments before this one, I was saying if you were the criminal. I was not talking about VT, but about the man in the video (Tom Palmer). "cscian" was saying if the guys who were going to attack the man were armed, the man would be dead. I was saying no, none of the criminals would want to draw their guns, because the man already had his gun out. The guys ran from him which is why they all lived. Oh, and I'd want my M1911 when CHO came in.
By: teepsterr. on 06 Jan 09, 01:36:05
A lot of Gun Rights supporters claim that they need weapons if the government gets too much power. Well rather than fight how about.. A peaceful demonstration! Look at Mahatma Ghandi and Martin Luther King Jr. , they achieved a lot without any violence. Sadly it was guns and hatred that ended their lives.
By: bergadangtidakbaik. on 05 Jan 09, 23:01:15
If you were in the classroom of virginia Tech, when CHO (the korean guy) blocked the exit door and started shooting randomly. Would you rather (1) Run, Jump out the window from a three story building, (2) just pray that you are not going to hit by the bullets, or (3) have a gun and shoot him back.
By: AcomsRazor1776. on 05 Jan 09, 22:45:31
You also live in a country of only 60 million with a VERY limited demographic mix. Im not racists but im not politically correct either I say call things like I see them which brings me to my point. What do you think would happen to the UK crime rates if we took The entire African population of the US and relocated them to the UK. The US Crime rate would fall like a stone while UK's would skyrocket. This being said, no matter how true it is, it is a hypothetical statement.
By: AcomsRazor1776. on 05 Jan 09, 22:39:23
"You do realize that the government has the military behind them" Are you honestly conceded enough to believe that an army composed of volunteers who joined the military would honestly follow orders from a government to turn on their friends, their families, their country men, the very people they signed up to and swore to protect? Those military men would turn on the government along with the people, only they would bring their military gear with them.
By: ZSwordsMan. on 05 Jan 09, 16:40:42
Yes, there are really about 10 rounds in a typical concealed hand gun. However as I said before he has the gun out already, and he is going to shoot anyone who is still a threat. You run, you live. You pull your gun, he shoots you first. He is basically saying "if you want to kill me, let he who is not afraid to die pull the first gun, for I will shoot him first. Would you want to be that person? No one does, not you, not any of your comrades, and that leaves only one thing to do. Run like hell
By: ellitho. on 05 Jan 09, 15:32:31
Talk about putting out premises to fit your arguments, why should murders sky rocket in a small country town just because everyone has a gun? There also has to be a motive for using the gun. And even if you put more restrictions on guns in the US you still have all the guns that have been sold going around. And it isn't hard to go across stateliness to buy a gun.
By: cscian. on 05 Jan 09, 10:48:00
there is what 15 rounds in a handgun even if the guy who pulls a gun is accurate with it(and thats unlikely) there is still going to be five guys alive a armed. and i doubt he would be quick enough to shoot all 15 guys he would have to worry about the 75 bullets coming rite back at him
By: ZSwordsMan. on 05 Jan 09, 02:58:14
Exactly. I agree with you 100% I mean anti-gun people what was he supposed to do, spray them with mace? Even if he was sure none of them had guns, they still have fists, feet, knives, and anything else they could get their hands on.
By: DarkoSmith. on 05 Jan 09, 02:10:30
Then, I shoot and kill a few of his friends until he backs off. Trust me, you point a gun at almost anyone, loaded or not, they back off. Nobody really wants to risk there life.
By: ZSwordsMan. on 04 Jan 09, 22:19:18
Put yourself in the shoes of one of the 20 guys cscian. You are following a man with your comrades thinking you have this man outnumbered, he doesn't stand a chance, easy money. Then he turns around and he has a pistol pointed at your group. Even if you had a weapon, you still have to pull it out. He already has a gun pointed in your direction. You pull out that gun, you are going to be shot first. Better to run and live. Even thieves know that.
By: Kashrlyyk. on 04 Jan 09, 18:23:00
No, I imply that the government has much more power now, than back then. And it has that much more power because it can kill a lot of people, with just one attack unlike back then. The element of surprise is something no weapon can defend you against. So weapons are only useful to defend yourself against idiots, that donīt rob you by surprising you. Why did you ignore the whole minimization of risk??
By: DavyCrockett2. on 04 Jan 09, 02:17:14
And actually you too can own a tank. Go read your law dumb ass. As far as the government winning and there being no chance of me/people like me winning? That would be an honorable way to die for me. Men that think like me is why you have your rights today. OUT OF MY COLD DEAD HANDS.
By: DavyCrockett2. on 04 Jan 09, 02:10:32
As far as "How does your gun help you against someone robbing you by holding his gun against the back of your head?" How stupid of a question is that? How about "How does your gun help you against someone who has like 20 friends and you only have 15 bullets, huh huh, then what?" You're a fucking idiot.
By: DavyCrockett2. on 04 Jan 09, 02:08:44
As far as ---> "...the amendment was done in a time when the weapons people & the military uses were exatly the same?" I take it you imply that todays weapons are so advanced that they would not have made the same amendment. That is the same as saying that free speach people can only use a printing press from the 1800s & not a modern one. THE REASON FOR THE AMENDMENT WAS **BALANCE OF POWER**. You give too much power to one side and it overtakes the other. History has proven this over and over.
