They didn't write this song actually. It's an English ballad from like the 15th century. Bob Dylan took lyrics from it, so did Simon and Garfunkel.

Simple music? Paul Simon is only one of the best songwriters in the world and Art Garfunkel one of the best singers. Are you insane? I discovered Simon & Garfunkel on my own. I don't like them based on their popularity, so you can count me out as one of the "ignorant sheep".

I grew up with their music and now as before I feel the magic of scarborough fair, that leads me to a time that I didn't live but I dreamt of, to a distant imaginary life that this song whispers
