Cherubino: have you seen Flicka in Offenbach's aria from "La Périchole": "Tu n'es pas beau"?... sweet and adorable!
By: loverflicka. on 08 Jan 09, 22:08:50
I agree with you, Cherubino91... after seen and listen Flicka in this video (or in any other performance) it´s impossible not to fallen in love with her.
By: Cherubino91. on 05 Jan 09, 02:20:08
Oh my! I think I have just fallen in love *.*
By: soami2u. on 04 Jan 09, 15:42:24

Thanks!!
By: loverflicka. on 30 Dec 08, 18:40:51
To sprygeoffreya17 Flicka is the name of FvSs fathers pony, and from her childhood she had been called like this familiarly and lovingly, not only by the members of her family, but the general public and specially by her fans, and she always agreed with this habit with affection and in a good mood. (See on YT the interview by Charlie Rose, November, 30, 1994) There are even several records (vinyl, CD, DVD) with this nickname in the cover.

Of course! Flicka is bewitching from head to toe... or not?
By: sprygeoffreya17. on 28 Dec 08, 08:56:15
Besides what everyone before me has said about Frederica, she also has absolutely bewitching eyes, doesn't she?
By: mizofan. on 18 Dec 08, 22:49:41
Meltingly lovely, singer and voice
By: tenorlovesasoprano. on 17 Dec 08, 19:09:08
impeccable vocal technique. wow. those low notes give me chills they're so well sung. just wow.
By: emeralds5. on 09 Dec 08, 04:22:07
FVS is the greatest of the greats a mezzo yes, but there are some songs that you would believe she were a soprano. Beautiful person, inside and out. Remarkable person and voice. I can't say enough good about her!

1993, in a concert for the 100th anniversary of Dvorák's New World Symphony, Municipal House, Smetana Hall, Prague.
By: stepaushi. on 01 Dec 08, 05:05:20
F. von S. has a special human quality to her voice that is very touching, especially in the middle and lower registers. I'm sure she has developed this quality with much thought--it doesn't just happen. She's a fine artist!
By: lumpylumps579. on 29 Nov 08, 04:16:13
When did she perform this? What date?
By: luvjonathan. on 28 Nov 08, 06:15:41
this version truly sent a shiver down my spine unlike some of the others. such a clear and beautiful voice that suits this music, almost like a like reflecting moonlight ;)
By: Milan1959. on 18 Nov 08, 17:24:43
Czech dreamful music :-)
By: frufruJ. on 25 Oct 08, 23:26:58
Again, do you mean "Necitelná vodní moci" from the beginning of Act III? There are three renditions here... And, of course I completely agree with you about F von S!
By: Pathtith. on 24 Oct 08, 23:48:30
F von S is so beautiful and sings so musically that it's impossible to imagine anyone else getting so deeply into the music. I just wish someone would post a vid of the later aria from Rusalka (Act III) which makes this often-touted number look like a non-event...
By: loverflicka. on 24 Oct 08, 17:26:29
I've already understand you, frufruJ, but thanks for your explanation.
By: frufruJ. on 24 Oct 08, 16:57:12
Hey, I just translated it ;-) And, of course I meant "to hear *Czech* in the world". I hate these funny typos.
By: loverflicka. on 24 Oct 08, 16:26:56
Thanks, frufruJ, for your explanation. It's very pleasant to count on kind people like you that contribute to make richer and greater youTube. (Please, excuse my english)
By: frufruJ. on 24 Oct 08, 15:11:50
loverflicka, I know exactly what you mean, but if you click on "show all comments", it is in the right place :-) Janinka34 asked me to translate the previous comments for you: malma3: Isn't it beautiful to hear Chech in the world... Thanks, Tony. Janinka34: In the world - yes. Furthermore, this concert took place in Prague, in the Municipal House, Smetana Hall, in 1993 - 100th anniversary of the premiere of the New World Symphony.
By: frufruJ. on 21 Oct 08, 20:38:00
I've found in the Ott?v Slovník Nau?ný that the word originates in the name of folk festivities, rusalje (rosalia, dies rosae), which took place during the Pentecost (letnice). I'd say a rusalka is a russian víla :-)
By: adaiho1. on 21 Oct 08, 18:58:00
It's true. Rusalka (word) exists in russian and also in czech. But czech man rather says víla than rusalka. I have never thought about it.
By: frufruJ. on 21 Oct 08, 18:21:42
Yep. I was just curious, it could have originated from some old slavic word :-) However, in Russian, rusalkas are water nymphs. In Czech, of course, it's just a name of one.
