The second-half is a limitation imposed on the PRESIDENT of the Senate, if all it meant was that the VP was a tiebreaker then it would have said that, but if you are able to comprehend what you read then you notice the VP Has two roles in Government, Replace the President and preside over the Senate as it's President. He it is Article I Sec 3.4: "The Vice President of the United States shall be PRESIDENT of the Senate, but shall have no Vote, unless they be equally divided." There are two parts to that one sentence. And Matthews just glosses over the first part, and then blows it off. John Adams, Thomas Jefferson ran their senates as VP, try doing some research.

honey, if min. wage goes up, the demand for jobs go up. if demand goes up, supply goes down. b/c there is a decrease in supply (ability to fund wages) there is a shortage of wages and a surplus of workers. less jobs provide skill to less people and unemployment is at its high. then, if min. wage goes up, evry1 elses wages have to go up, ergo the prices on products get more expensive and our dollar is even more worthless than it previously was.

There were two mistakes Sarah Palin made on this issue. 1). She didn't tell the truth about supporting this issue before she was against using federal earmarks for the project. She could have easily said she is for a bridge in Ketchikan that leads to somewhere important (an international airport), but not for solely using federal monies. 2) She betrayed the majority of her home state by refering to a rural community as "nowhere". She might as well call Alaska "nowhere".

I'm a little concerned about this whole earmark talk to begin with. Earmarks actually go to support a lot of things I would certainly consider worthwhile. Is this like one of those cache 22's where hard-line extreme right wing conservatives call extreme right wingers like Bush, McCain, Palin liberal B/c Bush wants 2 destroy public schools so he says he supports it,defunds it, runs it into the ground? like our nation kinda huh? Sigh. Both are right. Yes, she did kill the bridge in office. Yes, that meant she changed her mind. Yes, Congress removed the earmark- but still sent Alaska the money. Yes, she killed the bridge and kept the money. Yes, Alaska's earmarks are highest percapita Yes, she reduces them each year. re: "$/per-capita" Alaska is vast-- large as 1/5 of the lower 48 states, 65% federal land and requires dramatically more infrastructure than say, San Francisco, 7x7 mile city w/the same "# of residents".

She didn't think the bridge was a wasteful expense in 2006--but when it became unpopular, AND when she found out Alaska would have to pay for it, she dropped support for it but took the money, which she used to build a "road to nowhere"--a gravel road. That road didn't cost $223M! Why didn't she return the money? Why did she support the bridge as a valid "infrastructure project" in the first place, yet wouldn't pay for the rest of it with Alaska's own budget money?
