ok yes there were 3 krabs, and yes they were bigger than the scanners, but one of the scanners was still functional b/c the krabs destroyed the scanners w/ their lasers, not by just being too big. and look at how much damage the kankrelots did to jim in False Start, an army of kankrelots and hornets would be enough for X.A.N.A. to do some major damage.

Xana materialized krabs, but could only do three because there were only 3 scanners and the krabs were bigger than the scanners. When they were materialized, they destroyed the scanners. Now compare the size of a krab, with the size of a megatank, or a taratula, or a flying manta. In fact, the only monsters xana can materialize without destroying the scanners would be kankeralats, and possibly hornets.
